As a Junior Product Developer – Oncogenetics you have already some experience or strong affinity for cancer genetics and for understanding of the cancer genome to identify driver alterations and to associate those genetic events with a diagnostic, clinical or therapeutic value. You are involved in designing and testing of (digital)MLPA products, so that they meet our quality standards. In addition, you are involved in developing and testing new data analysis strategies for tumour analysis with (digital)MLPA.

Responsibilities
  • Developing novel conventional and digital MLPA products and improving the existing MLPA products for (epi)genetic analysis:
    • Performing short literature reviews and database searches
    • Designing and evaluating (digital)MLPA probes
    • Performing (digital)MLPA quality tests and data-analysis
    • Utilisation and troubleshooting of CE and NGS devices
    • Processing, documentation and troubleshooting of (digital)MLPA experiments and results
    • Writing product descriptions and other IFU (instructions for use) documents
    • Contributing to the development, testing and validation of software for analysis of (digital)MLPA raw data
  • Contributing to the general laboratory tasks and to the organization of the laboratory.
  • Contributing to the experiments for CE marking (e.g. stability studies etc.) of (digital)MLPA technology.
  • Contributing to the research projects.
  • Contributing to company-related processes, such as quality assurance.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field by performing literature reviews and by attending internal & external meetings, book clubs and conferences, when applicable.
 
Qualifications
  • MSc degree in Biology,  Biomedical Sciences or similar.
 
Competencies
  • Affinity with oncogenetics / (epi)genetics and working in a commercial setting according to the QMS protocols.
  • Adequate knowledge on human (onco)genetics.
  • Ability to critically interpret and analyse data
  • Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and to write short scientific reviews
  • Fluency in English in both writing and speaking. Knowledge of Dutch is preferred.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office applications).
  • Characteristics: Analytical, creative, accurate, organised, proactive and ability to adapt. Able to work independently as well as part of the team.

Starting salary: € 3332 - 3912. In addition, we have excellent employment conditions. At MRC Holland we have 28 holidays a year and are also closed between Christmas and New Year's Day.
