As distribution manager, I’m maintaining the relationship with the about 55 sales partners that we have in other countries, mainly outside of Europe. We talk about the opportunities and challenges in their territories and about which help they need from us to sell our products, like marketing materials or training. It’s a great way for us as well to learn about local markets. I like it a lot that I have to deal with many different cultures and that I encounter so many different situations. Sometimes you really need to be creative. I love the variety of the job, it happens often that my weeks end up to be totally different than I expected.

At MRC Holland, it's very easy to talk with colleagues from all departments. The board mingles with everybody as well, you can approach them easily. This makes communication during work smoother. At some companies, Quality Assurance can be rigid, and other departments find that difficult. Here, we think: how can we work together to solve things as effectively as possible?
You have a lot of freedom to develop yourself. You can take a course or do an internal internship, or you might receive additional tasks beyond your regular work. I've worked here longer than I’ve ever worked anywhere else, and I still see plenty of challenges to keep me here for a long time.
—Stuart van Niele, Senior Quality Assurance Specialist, employed since 2020

I like that there are many social activities at MRC Holland that you can choose to attend. At my department we are getting along really well, sometimes we have drinks or dinner together. Or we do something with a smaller group, like going to pilates.
My work is to write and to do literature studies, which I like a lot. And although my job is quite specific, I’m asked what I want to do more and I’m given extra projects that are aligned with my interests. This way, I can develop myself broader.

As a software engineer, I develop and maintain software applications. It’s really important to me that they are used in healthcare. I know how our products affect the health of people. Seeing how our products have impact on the health of people motivates me every day.

I work at the Sales department where I do lots of things: processing orders, sending quotes, picking orders and handling all the paperwork that is necessary for our shipments. We ship to around 80 countries, so there’s a lot of variety in what we do. I appreciate that we collaborate as a team, but that there is a lot of space to work in your own way and at your own pace. I really like the atmosphere at the company. I interact not only with my own department, but with many others as well. You can tell that it’s a family-run company, everybody knows each other. —Thang Nguyen, Sales Support Administrator, employed since 2021 |

When I started as a product developer, I was mainly involved in everything that comes with creating a new product. Think of performing quality tests in the lab to see if it works well, or writing documentation such as a product description.
In recent years, I have increasingly focused on automating processes and making things easier, such as planning our next generation sequencing runs. We used to do that in a complicated Excel file, then I built a software tool to do that automatically. Now I develop software to process all the data generated by our pipetting robots, to ensure that this data is used in a meaningful way.
What I like here is that there are many ambitious people who want to improve stuff. You can really be yourself, everyone has their own unique quirks and there is space for that. MRC Holland provided me the freedom to discover my interests, and to grow in other areas such as software development. I enjoy the friendships I made at MRC, it's nice that you can also talk about other things than work. And for me it’s also important to work for a company that does meaningful things for society.
